The key word in the title of this article is replace. While Digital Marketing wouldn't necessarily replace Traditional Marketing, it is becoming increasingly more prevalent in society. According to Statista.com, "Almost 4.66 billion people were active internet users as of October 2020, encompassing 59 percent of the global population. Mobile has now become the most important channel for internet access worldwide as mobile internet users account for 91 percent of total internet users."
While the year 2020 could be an anomaly in showcasing what the true numbers of online users should be, the big takeaways from this is that right now you can reach over half the world online and that mobile devices are increasingly important for doing so.
Again, it wouldn't mean that Traditional Marketing won't work in the future, but right now the opportunity is increasingly becoming Digital Marketing, as you will definitely have a higher reach (and most likely for much cheaper overall, as traditional methods were generally the higher priced methods).
As we head into 2021, and uncertainty remains for the virus, lockdowns, etc., considerations should be made to move from traditional methods to digital methods for the time being. This doesn't mean, though, that you shouldn't do both Traditional and Digital Marketing, but rather that Digital Marketing remains the top choice for the foreseeable future of Marketing, and your Marketing strategies should definitely include digital strategies as well.
We've developed a method for creating Marketing and Sales strategies for businesses (mostly service-based businesses). If you'd like to learn more about how you can get us to help you implement the strategy (the SMART Customer Generation System) into your business, you can get more information here (as well as a free checklist).
